Corruption in RWAs

I had raised this issue in the LocalCircles circle on Getting work done without Corruption and got good inputs but would like to raise it here given the number/type of members. If its duplicate for you, apologies.

I am eager to know how Bad RWA officials engage in corrupt activities and what can be done by residents to ensure there money, rights or interests are not being compromised. I have not been in RWA office myself ever but lot of people seem to be very keen.

Also, how does AAP aim to transform the Mohalla leadership so they are open/transparent and embrace connectivity. In my local circle in Kendriya Vihar there is 250+ members but the executive RWA committee is missing. It almost seems they are scared probably because of their doings.

Please share experiences and views. more

Aren't RWAs more about power play more than corruption play? more
There is no transparency in many RWA's and no transparency or accountabilty.Crores of rupees are are spent by a coterie of office bearers. more
With my limited understanding, I think primary RWA corruption is in allowing construction activity and general purchase. Sometimes letting vendors in a society/colony also entails corruption. more
I am residing in the biggest group housing society which having 1300 flares that is EAST END APARTMENT in Delhi. RWA in this society is working excellent job. Our former RWA President Mr R. C. Gupta who helped the residents tirelessly for every problem without anpayment.this may be the example for other RWA,s in spit of his old age85 years.. H e retired voluntarily and othe president also working in the same manner. It means you have to select the honest person for leadership which decent on the residents as in case of country leadership done this time by Dehli residents. more
