Measures tht can ensure kids specs power doesn't increase

Is there anything that can be done to minimise increase is short sighted power for kids. Foods, routines, exercises, anything else? more

Make sure that your kid wears the prescribed specs at all times while reading, watching TV, using mobile/video games, etc. This helps to keep the power stable. more  
Anshu, You had mentioned your Husband also wears Contact Lens. It seems it is a Hereditary Eye problem. You should have a professional Good Eye Surgeon near your place to advice you on this. Eyes is not an instrument you can do a Trial and Error on.
