Osteoarthiritis of knees

My wife, 65, is suffering from the above disorder. Recently I read an article in which SBF Healthcare & Research Centre, Bangaluru offers treatment through SPMF technology which is non-invasive and a substitute for knee replacement. It claims cure through regeneration of cartilage. Can any member advise me on the efficacy of this treatment, its success rate, pros and cons, approximate cost and any other relevant information including experience of anyone who has undergone this therapy. more

To help understand and suggest appropriate treatment most of the diseases are graded in to numbers as per the stage of the disease. Similarly osteoarthritis also has been graded as grade 1 (early) to grade 4 (advanced). In grade four stage of the disease, the only proven treatment is joint replacement surgery (any where in the world). Various other supposedly good or alternate treatments may help people with stage 1 to stage 3 disease. more
it seems unbelievable that merely practicing Yoga can cure a person from the pains and other symptoms of osteoarthritis especially that of knee. I think the treatment, whatever is advised by a specialist may be supported by practicing yoga also. There is no harm in trying out any newer method of treatment if it is non invasive and does not ask you to take heavy metallic preparations or formulations affecting other organs or systems of the body. Mr. Mundra must be aware by now that osteoarthritis of knee is very common in elderly persons particularly females. Mobility and pain can improve with walking ( jogging ) and reducing weight. In this Yoga and physiotherapy certainly helps. more
