Never will we see an ideal situation for school reopening. Optimum is definitely now, for those qualifying, i.e. under Right to Education for attending reopened schools. Schools generate employment too, a social functional dimension employing staff working with their hands, for example janitors, earning modestly. After all, malls, shopping complexes, gyms, parlours, restaurants, flights, trains and all entertainment places are open. This would be affirmative action.. Those taking classes online may continue being online. They are well-off and advantaged anyway. After a month, again you want better precautions, meanwhile this current status qup makes a difference to the poor. Poverty means schooling the only opportunity at getting an educated, since these families remain uneducated. Beggary increasing, perhaps this is okay with those who are comfortable netizens advocating keeping schools shut another month. Only if one educates such a student, does he have the moral right exercising power over a matter that brightens the needy student's future. Who asks the poor? Localcircles only giving the rich netizens a voice, including vetoing rights! This is further exacerbating inequality. Not that I am a socialist, but this situation seems exploitative. more

Reopening must happen soon, as even now, after 17 months, with education will be pending, especially for those who depend on the regular educational mode, - the actual presence in classrooms, i.e. children of the poor. Schools have meanwhile enjoyed massive savings of their resources, such as running overheads, utilities, both expenses and expenditure, the latter for example on mid-day meals catering to the needy, must resume normalcy. Online education delivery, may continue doing so. Savings above may be spent here, running parallel classes online. The latter have had their way, now so must the economically weak, since pandemic continues. Not that this is a socialist agenda, but till now the arrangement, with netizens alone having their say, has been exploiting the poor. more
