THE DAUGHTER IN LAW MENACE
The Government through the legal system has empowered women backed by commissions and other SPVs specifically created for the purpose.However law alone can not empower women and empowered women must behave to keep Indian family system evolved over time immemorial.
India had evolved an enviable family system and social hierarchy which has been unfairly criticised and attacked,which has resulted in a fragile family system and many women are taking criminally undue advantage in the name of rights and legal protection.With the advent of mobile system,almost all daughter in laws have been transformed to mobile misguided missiles creating havoc in happy families through undue,unrestricted data sharing which is an invasion of privacy in a family system.
The disruption in the Indian family system through so called women's empowerment needs serious re-look and re-evaluation.The legal system and police system must create social policing to prevent these misguided women from openly flouting moral frame work of a family system.For instance social police counselors network could be created to assist distressed families in creating factual reports which can assist the courts in fixing these misguided women and their mothers from harassing families across the country.A country wide debate is necessary to address the related issues so that the legal framework is not unduly used by these misguided women who openly threaten in laws and connected family persons for implicating them under dowry law or under harassment of women provisions.This is a matter of serious concern as it is disrupting the once enviable family ecology of India. more

Its not just about Daughter-In-Law, its about the Law systems, procedures. The entire court system requires serious reforms. People who have not faced it think that your post is against women, what they don't know is how slow & regressive the court systems is. Indian political and administrative system has yet to emerge out of the shadows of the British rule.As rightly pointed out we need holistic review and revamp:
-constitutional provisions
-police reforms
-judiciary reforms
-elimination of IAS cadre.
Think tanks in all above areas of concern need to be constituted for working out white papers,which can be presented to the President of India. more

Women should not be supposed to remain un-empowered to keep the Indian family system stabilized. Misuse of any law and false accusation should be treated similar to misuse of other laws. more

Generalization must be avoided. I reliably know of a situation based on which an article could be written titled 'parents in law menace' or 'just in time escape for the daughter in law' or anything around sentences "aapne ladki de di, to aadha sharir de dia", "shaadi se pehle aapki beti thi, ab hamari milkiyat hai, jaisa marzi rakhen..." or "Tu wapis jane ki soch to sahi...dekh tera kya haal karte hain...". I understand assessments about compatibility might go wrong. But, which law entitles parents-in-law and groom to hold back the bride by threatening when she finds the treatment inhuman and unacceptable. But as I said generalization must be avoided. Things are rarely in balance. Perhaps, there was a time when the daughter in law was at receiving end and had no option, and then laws were enacted to protect her. Now, perhaps in some cases these laws are misused by some. But, then which law is not misused? more

Mr Mishra,confine girls & women to homes & get girls married just after adolescence. No Education means No Empowerment !
And No Need to Make Any Laws
And No Trouble for anyone.. But Keep Looking for Women Doctors to do Ultrasounds/Deliver babies/ Teach kids etc
Remember that Clever women as daughter in laws Have Equally Clever Company of Lawyers who help them to file a false case of harassment.
Any woman who dared to approach lawyers to start the Divorce Process,carrying along proofs of harassments of multiple abuses along with proofs -@ multiple sex Determination Tests to beget a son..faces more harassment in the courts because These proofs are Not Enough Cause of Harassment for lawyers belonging to both parties- her lawyer who gets pally with lawyer of her husband..
One Thappad is Not Enough,because it is like how dare She Approach Courts for Justice..
Her own Blood relations Shun her & she becomes a living TV serial.

Unfortunately the laws take unduly long time and in the mean time it is too late for many in the receiving end.My contention is that the law makers and policy makers must wake up to the situation of menacing daughter in laws who are embedded in an otherwise peaceful household and are creating very very disturbing living conditions for senior in-laws. In fact I know of cases where these misguided DILs keep on black mailing openly about false dowry cases.There is a direct co-relation between women's empowerment and destabilization of Indian family system.This in turn is leading to problems of elderly care.Law must wake up to the reality. more

Yes all the Laws are favouring women and as against in other matters, you are not held guilty unless proven while in matters related to women, by default it is presumed not only by Law but also the administrative machinery that men are guilty. This has changed the family and social ecosystem prevailing in our Indian culture. This approach encourages some women to take undue advantage as they play victim card. more

I thought of expressing my feelings on this subject,as I have experienced personally and closely the tyranny these women are causing to peace loving gentle people.I found mostly the mothers are mostly responsible in getting involved with their daughters and cell phones provides all means to pry in to the daily lives of innocent families.Law of the land must try these black mailers for their dangerous activities,which is causing anxiety and pain to elderly parents.The cases I know of are incredibly nasty.No wonder that divorces and uncared for elderly parents parents are becoming so common.I hope there is fearless awareness which can stop this menace and bring some sanity in to the family ecosystem in India. more

All that I can submit that in our community (Tamil Brahmin) almost no dowry is offered or demanded. In our family including in the extended family there has not been any case of dowry for three generations. more

The divorce rate for Tamilian couples has been reported to be one of the highest in the country.This could be indicating family ecology disruption,and needs understanding of reasons for divorce so that policies and social measures could be formulated accordingly. more
