We all losing 12 years of our life to pollution

The average Delhi resident might lose 11.9 years of their lives on an average to air pollution, the Air Quality Life Index 2023 report of the University of Chicago’s Energy Policy Institute (EPIC) has stated.

If we were in a developed country we could file a class action against Punjab Government for letting this happen and claim compensation.

The report, which calculated the loss in life expectancy globally across 245 countries and territories, analysed the annual average PM2.5 levels recorded across different Indian cities and states, with 2021 taken as the base year. The data was compared with the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO) for particulate matter less than 2.5 microns thick (PM2.5) of 5 micrograms per cubic metre (µg/m3). PM2.5 can cause severe health problems and early mortality. more

Government's policies responsible. Beneficiary the luxury sector, loser the average Delhi resident. Started in the year 1999! Diesel subsidy. Rest, attributions galore. https://www.downtoearth.org.in/news/cheap-fuel-high-cost-19351#:~:text=ENVIRONMENTALISTS%20and%20experts%20have%20condemned,in%20the%20cities%2C%20they%20said. more
It is political will and not SUV or aircrafts . Kejriwal use to blame every state and did nothing . There is so much unauthorized construction causing dust pollution more
In US Newark and New York airports cater to New Jersey and New York separately. Here NCR (national capital region) residents co-opting Delhi's infrastructure. See the SUVs driving down to Delhi airport. Obviously Delhi polluted. more
Citizens must raise their voices to save lives in the NCR … action must begin immediately … every single day we loose is fatal … many babies and senior citizens are suffering and suffocating and surviving on nebulisers and steroids with permanent lung damage etc … all the state governments concerned and the Central government should act together on this issue … it’s a crying shame that for selfish political reasons they play the blame game and shirk responsibilities while the citizens who are dyeing a daily death are not being taken into consideration … the situation is as bad as Nazi gas chambers … and the lack of accountability of our leaders at state and union levels is appalling … they are getting away with this heinous crime. more
Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Faridabad, Gurugram and NCR residents use Delhi airport to fly. Flights themselves polluting! Introduce articulated buses for fetching flyers. अपनी बड़ी diesel गाड़ियों में आकर वह एयरपोर्ट से फ्लाइट्स लेते हैं. Thus Delhi's roads overloaded. Who suffers? Mooted 14 years back, Noida's Jewar Airport delayed. Noida's Jewar Airport could serve East Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut or cities lying further east. Flight paths planning necessary too. more
