People in the country are suffering from drinking water shortage. Don't even know what this ministry has achieved in the last 5 years!

State subject but would like to see all the rivers and water bodies brought under a central dept rather than leave this to the states. In so many states the water is just flowing into the sea rather than be optimally used. In others the rivers are drying up due to the sand mafias. Lots more action and planning required.
Again state subject - Sanitation is not only defecation in the open. Most of the sewerage pipes are old and are being used beyond the capacity for what they have been laid. There is total corruption, disinterest in ensuring upgradation, proper controls when giving approvals to builders. Town planning is a mess in India.

Since we are hearing that many cities in India including Bangalore, etc. will run out of water very soon, please publish yearly which states (& cities) are actively increasing water sources (may be in terms of lakes, ponds, rain water harvesting, etc.) and which states (& cities) are abusing and decreasing effective water sources and compare them year-over-year and between states.
