Regarding traffic on the road, Auto drivers tend to fleece, hit or beat passengers for small dispute and for fear of embarrasement some incidents not reported to police by public. Severe action to be taken if hitting or beating take place in public first against the first attacker. Similarly the speed bikers, autos and minivans and lorries tend to rash drive and scare the public and they have to be reigned in. In the Railway level crossings unruly behaviour of blocking traffic take place and they have to be controlled. We also appreciate traffic police for the tireless service.

Lanes are to be separately marked for fast lane for ambulance,four wheeler ,police vehicles and separate lanes for slow moving vehicles like two wheeler, bus and lorry. Lane is to be designated at least 500 meters in advance for right or left cut to avoid congestion in that lane .Change to other roads to be allowed only at signals. In between opening in the route are to be closed.Parking in the roads not to be allowed.
Over speeding ,Lane changing without putting signals,jumping signals,tailgating,,driving without licence
are to be penalized heavily.Moreover the police are to be guided only by law and not by other issues.The traffic police have to spend more in monitoring traffic instead of attending other issues.May be they can be equipped with more electronic gadgets,mobility,physical fitness .These follow ups can reduce their time at traffic signals .

Inspite of all this educating basic driving rules and regulations, not only coimbatore but all people about will help a lot.

Basically common sense driving, leaving space to people on Right, simple things will change a lot.

Synchronisation of signals is to be done for smooth and quick movement of vehicles. Roads are to be widened and lanes to be increased to accommodate increasing vehicle movement. Traffic is managed at signals.

What I am about to suggest is not only for Coimbatore Traffic Police, but for all the cities in India. It is noticed that even in a one way road, many people tend to violate the rule, this is potentially very dangerous and causes accidents and traffic blocks. Police must be very strict and levy severe deterrent penalties for such violators. Another major reason for traffic blocks is due to peoples' impatience, in a traffic block when a little space is found they jut in, in the bargain neither can they move forward nor can the vehicles coming in the opposite direction, causing delays for everybody. Here a little patience, common sense and severe penalties can resolve the problem. Every city is becoming crowded with traffic nowadays and we need to learn from other developed countries about patience and road etiquette.
