Madurai Junctltion is not well equipped with Digital Display tolocate the coaches before the trains arrive. Frequently the platforms will be changed just few minutes before the trains enter the stationmaking it highly impossible to run with luggages.
The information kiosks are not working most of the time and server error is the reason for failure. But the way the Platform 1 is managed is highly appreciated despite many trains passing through this junction.
1) Need additional foot-over bridge near Information Enquiry office. Madurai Junction(MDU) had old (in steel) one foot-over bridge. That was demolished before 2yrs. Having only one foot- over bridge is not sufficient for passengers.
2) Need additional battery car service. Initially Madurai Junction (MDU) had 2 or 3 battery car service.Now it is reduced to only one. Need more battery cars and proper maintainence. Since all chennai bound trains arrive and depart at platform No.1 most of time, most passengers will walk through Main entrance and goto the platform No.1 to take their seats/ berths. It is difficult for old aged passengers to have their luggages and walk through the crowded platform no.1.
3) Need more seating capacity at platform No.1 . Trains from south tamil nadu like Pothigai/ Nellai/ Kanyakumari trains arrives late to Madurai . The above said trains arrives to madurai in time span of 20mins each. If the train gets delayed huge crowd is there.. old aged passengers and passengers having babies/kids find No space to sit in the platform No.1
