My late father had a PPF a/c in Deshapriyo Park PBB Branch Kolkata. This Branch was earlier one of the few customer oriented branch. Recently I experienced a deterioration in its service. After my father expired I went there to close his PPF a/c. I happened to be his nominee in the PPF a/c. One of the Manager in the branch told me to bring a Rs.10/- stamp paper in the name of the SBI branch & come with an application with Death Certificate. As all of us know that getting a Rs.10/- stamp paper is very difficult. Still with a lot of pain when I arranged & went to the bank with all the documents, then he says that stamp paper is not required. Then when I asked him what will I now do with this stamp paper? He took the stamp paper from me & kept it with him. He will surely sell it to somebody at a premium & pocket the money. This is the corruption that has entered in a otherwise good bank.
this bank is surviving just because of govt pension accounts, if that will go away, then all staff of SBI will die out of hunger. They do not understand the meaning of SERVICE. Note: there are branches which are good but mostly SBI is out of track.
No wonder all goverment back companies are I'm tatters. SBI is just another offender. ..be level that it is above law just because it's STATE bank.
They did not send me statement for 3 months n levied late payment fee in the 4th statement.
I requested to waive off which they agreed. .but lo n behold, it was not. I advsd that I'll make the payment only after the removal, to which SBI agreed. Another month went by n they ldid not waive it. I simply decided not to pay the 5000, which is now 40 k after all the Crap charges levied. It's been close to 8 years n they still call for collection. After what they did to my CIBIL score...I decided not to pay at all. Screw them.
Service depends upon the Manager and staff of that branch. In some branches you will get very good service, whereas in other branches poor service. The attitude towards the customer has to be changed. For that the Bank has to create some guidelines for the staff. As their association is so strong, they doesn't care for the customer oriented guidelines.
Worst service, Staff are head-weighted, not concerned about customers, they behave as if they are masters, customers are under their mercy. CS VENKATESH Sr CITIZEN
i wanted to switch loan from HDFC to SBI. on 1st Oct they SMSed that they have sent my loan application. now one SBI person is asking " how to visit your house...which way it is, how far from there" Another person called up from Kilpauk that "you have to show the original document, no no no noh, you have to come here, yes yes you can send a person with those document"
The ATM / CDM in this branch has probably been 'Out of Order' for major part of the year. Any no. of complaints to the Chief Manager & the Authorities have not elicited any response .

In Bihar Sharif, there are 4 SBI branches. In none of them, GREEN CHANNEL works properly. Most of the days it remains fail. Even the day it works, you need to swipe twice or thrice or wait for luck. In the three banks, each have two Green Channel machine but they say only one may work, other is permanently non-functioning. And on that one you have to attempt your luck. Out of 20 to 25 tries, I've got only one day when it was working without any problem.
Very poor service and regard for customer. Even money in account in not safe. A forged cheque was encashed from my 80 year old mothers account and inspite of repeated efforts the Bank refused to act and reimburse her money ! And she has been a customer for nearly 30 years with the Bank.
