Yes reheated in microwave in plastic bowls by educating people can be stopped & many restaurants pack hot food in plastic covers bags plates sheets should be stopped by the end users by stopping discourage them to use plastic & paper which melts & mixes with food consumed by family members including small children ! more
Ms. Sanjana, your post has brought out very good suggestions and the real prevailing situation at Buffet. No doubt only 50 % will be freshly made food ,Particularly Ritis , Dosas . The old ones are the Salads, , the curries left over from the last few days. You have brought out only the Nutrition part Sanjana, what about the hygiene part ? particularly the food getting rot, putrefy, decompose every time it is taken out heated displayed for about an hour on the table , then the left over refrigerated and heated again the next day. High time we think about it and follow the valuable advise of the members , which has prompted me to post this attachment. If we approach a Government agency to have control on this matter which is our own domain , we will be only empowering the Agency and the officials another avenue. Look at what is happening today we put all our faith and Trust on these agencies , yet numerous complaints surface day after day . more
In Indian Homes it is common for household wives to re-heat left overs of Afternoon Lunch for Nigh Diner...many families literally live out of their Refrigerators heating cold foods. High Tech Gadgets like OTG and Microwave are extensively used in not just shops/snacks outlet but also at home for re-heating. Buffet Lunches/Diner in contrast are prepared just an hour or so before being served and the heating is done to keep it warm. There is no definite data available as to the damage to nutritious elements in food - heated and there is always arguments to and for. Enjoy your food till it tastes good. more
As suggested by mr mADHUKAR and Mr GUPTHA, no regulation can do any good. People must raise their awareness, in this. Reheating necessarily kills all nutrients. AVOID BUFFETTING. more
Dont call FASSAI for everything. If Govt pokes its nose everywhere, we will be irritated. We dont want too many govt agencies. Instead of complaining to Govt, teach people what to do. People generally eat to satisfy hunger, not worried about long term health. I prefer buffet over seated dinner more
