Buses must have an assistant driver

Post covid this is the 3rd case of a bus driver having a heart attack. In December i think it was Jabalpur. May mausi sent this one from pune.

Not sure if it is covid or vaccine but something is off that people are dropping with heart attacks. Its so sad. Any one whose sudden collapse can lead to affecting safety of manh others i.e. plane, train, bus, mini bus there should be an assistant driver.

Idea is good. However it can be Driver cum Conductor , especially where ladies Bus Conductor/ Driver are involved so as to provide additional Help cum Security. It will add to operational expenses resulting in increase in fare. more
Dear Aparajita,Basically, the idea is very good. But, I am afraid, it is not feasible. However, due preventive care should be taken by the employers, in terms of: (i) Periodical Health checking; (ii) adequate rest before the 'Duty'; and (iii) not allowing exhaustion of the driver. This could be had by providing a Spare driver, etc. K.N. Krishna PrasadEHS Consultant & Trainer,  On Saturday, 14 January, 2023 at 01:44:03 pm IST, Aparajita Sharma wrote: more
The roadways drivers who work for 12 hours, take home a salary of Rs.1.25 approx. p.m. Is it a viable proposition to have 2 drivers ? Instead retirement age be reduced to 55 years and after the age of 40, medical check up should be done every 6 months. Controlling cost of governance should also be a priority. Let us not follow Sri Lanka and Pakistan model of governance. more
I traveled on apsrtc/ redbus booking mgbs-hyd to jnbt-vjw. Bus is good refurnished look like. The travel time is 11pm Hyderabad and 5am Vijayawada. The only driver never stopped for pee or tea. He got down 2 times as to check tyre pressur. A lot of Sr citizens on the bus, load full. He even sold driver berth too. He in fact came 30 min earlier. No doubt Bus is good, we travelers suffered. more
