Calcium Carbide and other fruit ripening agents

I was following the discussion on carbide ripening. I am a big fruit lover and consumer atleast half a kg every day.

My question is if calcium carbide fruit ripening is so so common, what are the officials and bodies like FSSAI do. Why do they actively not hunt down such practices and work on a system where people are booked for doing it and jailed as well as loose livelhood.

And if they are actually doing something, I'd like them to publish stats here in front of all. preferably national stats on how many fruit ripening cases have they caught country wide.

This is the Burning Issue and the Authority Must act. Unfortunately the gravity is so wide that the sources might be in-adequate so also the Will and Wish, which lacks. more
Very good question. There is lack of enforcement. more
Graft perhaps is more sweeter than the fruit to officials involved in allowing chemically ripened fruits to be sold in the market. The positive aspect is that people get the calcium(overdose) through these chemically treated ripened fruits. So you actually make a saving in not having to consume Calcium Sandoz tablets and would enjoy the benefit of strong bones. You will definitely need strong bones to kick corrupt officials right? more
Inaction or poor response to this issue by Govt is one aspect of the problem. Why producers are doing it?That is other important part of the issue. Where is conscious of Producers? Does he not understand that he is slow poising his country men? Please understand every social flaw can not be controlled by government agency. Greed, poor morality of the society are the root causes. How to reverse this trend? Let us consider what each one of us do to reverse this trend. more
There is no accountability. more
