colorful sugar coated ILLs

Namasthe,

This Dasara, my mother who was invited by her neighbour, returned back with laddus.  The laddus were ridden with dark orange color.  This is due to the chemical color - Metanil yellow which is toxic; available in several colors (yellow, orange, dark orange etc.).  It damages the nervous system, it is neurotoxic (to the extent that it can disturb even the central nervous system), carcinogen, gastrotoxic and hepatotoxic.      [Food Chem Toxicol. 1993 Jan;31(1):41-4. doi: 10.1016/0278-6915(93)90177-z. PMID: 8095244, Metanil yellow: The toxicfood colorant December2017 DOI: 10.21276/apjhs.2017.4.4.16, plus many more others] Unfortunately this color is widely used throughout the country.  Corrupt  FSSAI, ISI, ISO, BBMP officers are all blind like the Drutarashtra whose blind love for kingdom (in favour of duryodana) led to killing of the entire kuru vamsha.    The rakshasas of these days are different.  About 10 years back in local news paper there was an article on the issue.  The result of this was that the then 'HELLth minister shouted - warning-do not use food colors in sambar...etc.".  Everything later was "MAMOOL".
While there are lot of emperical and literature (and common sense) evidences for this, most unfortunate thing of the modern India (not just India) is that "Corruption Defeats Science".   This dushera it is for us to think who/what should be killed?  Science/Technology should kill corruption 'or' corruption should kill science/Technology.  After all we are educated??? All that we did later at home was to throw the laddus in the dust bin.  Even while throwing in the dust bin, I was worring that the ants and other creatures those eat the sugar coated ILLs, or the soil where these land up ills get the poison.  Unfortunately we are trapped in a viscous circle. more

Yes, corrupt  FSSAI, ISI, ISO, BBMP officers are all blind and not taking any action and collecting pecuniary benefits from the merchants. Health Department should enforce the law that are in force. more
I think on the same lines as Mr. Prithvi Nath Bhargava. Unless the matter is pursued at the location where it has arisen, it serves no purpose to raise acrimony in social forums. more
Was there any complaint lodged anywhere? If yes kindly inform the result. Manufacturer/seller should be exposed in one or the other way so that people could be cautious in going for such sweets. more
We as consumers must refuse to use cheap substitutes. If we cannot afford kesar, let us do without! more
This is due to lack of enforcement as well as our general inclination to go to the 'cheapest' seller. more
