For those in Delhi NCR and north india affected by pollution, have fruits like lemons, melons, grapes, papaya, kiwis daily to fight smog-related air-borne toxins. Among vegetables include peas, cauliflower, cabbage, okra, red bell peppers, broccoli in your daily intake.
You want to fight pollution by eating fruits and vegetables! My simple remedy is to ask the CBI to raid the properties of all the past and present Chairmen and all officers of the Central Pollution Board and assess their values. What have these people been doing all these years? And what has the MoEF done all these years? And the Ministers of the Ministry of Env. & Forest? They all owe an answer to the society. It is sheer criminal neglect .The Supreme Court should take suo moto cognisance of this crime and initiate legal action against them all.Enough is enough. more
Sounds good but I doubt how many of our society are capable to afford these in their daily 3 times meals for the whole family members forgetting about those living in slums and are affected the most ! Pollution is not a problem for our affluent citizens, who can spend a few days or a couple of weeks in closed AC rooms without doing any work but millions of those who are suppose to starve without going out daily to earn their bread & butter in different activities are the real victims of such calamities. Probably their lives are not precious to our government and therefore, lack sincerity in solving the problem permanently allowing the calamity to recur every now and then. more
Solutions based on preliminary and detailed scientific study and analysis is the need of the hour. Historical data and analyses may give a direction to the study. Some of the important issues that need to be collated are: 1) Timing of the acute phase of pollution: after rains during winter season. Causes and remedies. 2. Air borne pollution from particulate dust due to vehicular movement. If they form significant fraction of overall pollution, remedies have to planned and executed. 3. Pollution from vehicular exhaust, 4. Pollution from construction activities, 5. Pollution from burning of farm waste and stubs. 6. Any other. Many of the solutions will have economic implication both for the government and citizen. All need to co-operate to achieve the goal for their own benefit. more
