Dont burn your toast

Some of us have tendency to toast our bread really dark before eating. Dont do it.

Apparently Eating burnt toast and well-browned roast potatoes could raise the risk of cancer.

When starchy foods are cooked at temp above 120 deg C, acrylamide is generated which is known to cause cancer, and obesity too. more

Really kudos & hats off to all the illustrious contributors. Can someone educate with the common seasonal ingredients containing VITAMIN B17. Anyway slowly cooking with frequent checking is the only solution as it used to be done a generation or two ago with coal fired oven. The same can be done with LPG oven but I think may be I wish I am wrong with lesser degree of effect. One has to find time for it. more
Allow me to say that none of relishes a burnt toast! more
It's a good point to keep in mind. It,s important to disseminate among the consumers to create awarness. However; to avoid such dark patch, one can make it on open tawa with medium heat. more
I am sorry, but it seems, this kind of post is a campaign to favour and encourage lazy community which is abundantly present in homes, hotels and restaurants who don't want to cook food properly and defends serving half cooked food. From our childhood, we have been taught that, half or uncooked MAIDA is harmful to eat and that's why we should always properly cook bread before eating. For argument sake, for a moment let us agree that, starch cooked above 120 degree C is broken into cancer causing chemicals. Can't there be other ways to cook bread properly? For example cooking at lower temperature but for a longer duration and can properly cook the food? No. But we will not put that point forward but canvass serving and eating semi-cooked food. Then, why not canvass uncooked food instead? more
