FSSAI Mandate

All of us, as members of this circle, expect fssai to check and correct all kind of food related issues we come across in our daily life. I am not sure that is going to be done proactively by fssai as all of us are expecting. I have copied and pasted the fssai mandate from their site which specifies what are their functions:

"FSSAI has been mandated by the FSS Act, 2006 for performing the following functions:

Framing of Regulations to lay down the Standards and guidelines in relation to articles of food and specifying appropriate system of enforcing various standards thus notified.
Laying down mechanisms and guidelines for accreditation of certification bodies engaged in certification of food safety management system for food businesses.
Laying down procedure and guidelines for accreditation of laboratories and notification of the accredited laboratories.
To provide scientific advice and technical support to Central Government and State Governments in the matters of framing the policy and rules in areas which have a direct or indirect bearing of food safety and nutrition .
Collect and collate data regarding food consumption, incidence and prevalence of biological risk, contaminants in food, residues of various, contaminants in foods products, identification of emerging risks and introduction of rapid alert system.
Creating an information network across the country so that the public, consumers, Panchayats etc receive rapid, reliable and objective information about food safety and issues of concern.
Provide training programmes for persons who are involved or intend to get involved in food businesses.
Contribute to the development of international technical standards for food, sanitary and phyto-sanitary standards.
Promote general awareness about food safety and food standards. more

FSSAI should help to counter the related issues in the common packaged food in the market scenorio. more  
Piyush Kumar ji, I heard but not very sure about the process but as long as you sell the milk without packaging its fine as it comes under rural Industry sector. but when you sell it labelled and packed then you have to follow all the processes as it comes under Commericial . Industrial product. I may not be using the correct terminologies, someone may correct wherever required. more  
Mr. Aroma is correct. We joined FSSAI for finding out possible easy ways to achieve complience which makes edible items safe healthier nutritious and creat awareness in edible product provider n o xumer both. An we not take it up in friendly manner? more  
precisely I want they should specify when a frying oil gets unsuitable, This will save lot many lives. Already we are cosumind solvent extracted refined oils containing palm more
