India is home to the largest undernourished population in the world.

-14.5% of our population is undernourished
-20.8% of children under 5 are underweight
-37.9% of children under 5 years are stunted
-51.4% women are anaemic

Yet 50kg of food is wasted per person per year in Indian homes.

Public problems can be solved only when public get involved in it. Neither any government agencies nor any government can solve any public related problems permanently. This problem can be solved only when peoples understand their responsibilities towards society. more
Yes, India is facing the worst situation as all such parameters got deepened in last couple of years only. There are two issues in front of us. Govt. must take corrective measures to improve the status as well control wastage of food as this is the dire need. Controlling wastage will make availability of food to poor. Otherwise; it will remain as a discussion only. No point of blaming FSSAI. more
It will be appropriate if FSSAI will take initiative to save wastage of food. more
Food stays fresh longer due to the antioxidant components that slow down the oxidation processes. Edible food films can be created for packaging food items, such as fruits, vegetables, poultry, meat, and seafood. Films to consist of natural ingredients, so that they are safe for health and the environment. The films can be added with natural antiviral agents, that will also extend the shelf life of food. Garlic, turmeric, and ginger contain compounds that may prevent the spread of the viruses. No special equipment for the production of films is required. On an industrial scale, it can be created by food products and films manufacturers. It can also be produced at a polymer production plant. The only condition is that it must meet the standards that apply to food production. Films that are water-soluble and dissolve by almost 90% in 24 hours are being created. more
FSSAI has control only on food safety. It is upto the civic bodies and public to avoid or reduce food wastages. If the civic bodies started to put limitation on the quantity of wastage generated and the type of waste per household , there can be marked change, because public understand better with penal action than awareness more
