Is RTI Act 2005 becoming defunct due to hand in glove?
Is it really RTI Act 2005 delivering what was expected from the enactment. There seems to be some hand in glove wherein PIO furnishes some information of no connection with the question sought, then the applicant makes an appeal to the first appellate authority who most of the time collaborates with PIO. In this process a time of 4 months is passed without giving an iota of the relevant information.
The matter goes to CIC as 2nd appellate authorities. It takes more than a year to be heard. CIC again does not have time to listen to you for more than 5 minutes and passes again an order missing crucial points of 2nd appeal. So good for more than one and half year you have been putting your efforts and still are without any information. What to talk of penalty where even you are able to put your point of malafide intention of hiding the information, you are not provided even the information. I have a proposal to come out with some concrete steps so that RTI Act 2005 should not become defunct due to corrupt system of public authorities. I would be seeking your comments for this purpose as for the time being I am not talking about bringing political parties under RTI but even where the RTI is applicable but still it is being made defunct. more

That is why Kejriwal says the present LOKPAL passed by Congress Govt will not be able to send a mouse to Jail. Congress/BJP/other parties are hand in glove in leaving loopholes in all laws so that whenever occasion arises their MP/MLA's/councilors are able to get reprieve under the lacunaes. I fully agree with you . I filed few RTI then fist appeal and second , this does not lead any where. Now these govt guys are not scared. there should be some penalty measures on them if they don't give correct answer or respond in time . only way is to terminate them . Not only politicians are corrupted but also normal person who has some power. I am sure many of people reading this will be involve in corruption. do they get embarrassed. more

You are right RTI is not that effective in getting quick information and many times evading to give any information, even bribes given prehand to make them give correct information. more
