IT Deptt. Corruption
IT Deptt. is full of CORRUPT persons. They harass honest Tax Payers and then extract money for settlements.
I retired in 2010 and now they have raised Tax Demand against me for five years when I was in service i.e. after more than ten years. I am supposed to get a Refund and they have written that the Refund was adjusted against the Illegitimate Demand they raised.
I have been paying my Taxes every year, including all income. Still they have done so. I sent two e-mails to the IT officer concerned with necessary documents. There is no reply at all.
When I contacted two CA friends, both told me that without taking money they will never settle the matter and I shall never get my money.
I hope Govt. will 'take care of' these Corrupt Officers. more

Yes I agree that some of the IT team is corrupt but not all. I feel some thing is missing. My suggestion is to send a written application giving details to the IT office. Nowadays you dont have to meet the IT Officer. You go to the Office and in the Reception you give the letter and get the acknowledgement. Within fifteen days you are assured a positive reply. I have received my refund like this. Please try this. more

Yes that is true and govt speaks of honesty first they need to cleanse their depts of the corrupt people who have been there since earlier regime. more

All Income Tax payers must submit their returns and once it is processed, we must keep the assessment copy for our future reference. more

Write directly to CBDT with a copy to FM and also to Secretary Finance GoI and even at a GoI portal meant for RoG more

I have similar experience of Income Tax department. I was a government servant, where the tax is deducted at source. They raised a query for the year 2009, the year of which, about 5 months were in service and 7 months after my retirement. It was replied after obtaining the required documents from my department. The demand amount was also high Rs. 90000 +... Subsequently, they already adjusted part of the amount against my refund and still the demand for the remaining amount remains. A few years before, I again sent the papers referring to the earlier submission. It appears that even God can not save honest tax payers from Income Tax department. more
