Keeping Police Ethical

Maharashtra DGP has issued an order for transferring 727 officers, who have served for more than 8 years in Mumbai. This would then include PI, API and PSI. Officers have been given a choice that they can choose 3 districts of their choice in which they want their transfer.

All states must do this. Many of The police men over time indulge in friendships, settings and other associations of favours.

By transferring them to rural and semi urban districts, the Govt can minimise corruption as the bonds and deals break.

Anyone agree with me. Will u ask your CM to do the same? more

To stem the rot from police firce and political patronage, every official should be transferred out every three years through a computerized system. The police officials well connected with politicians (law breakers) remain posted at the same police station or tensil for decades and become deadly corrupt. Even constable rank officials having direct support of MLA/MP do not obey SHO/SP/DGP. more
Theses things are part of the procedure but rarely these are followed. The crux of corruption originates from politicians. (Not that Government officials are not corrupt.) Without asking for choice, transfers should be enforced. more
As I know this is being stipulated in all kind of government (central & state) services on paper. This provision only provides a weapon to the concerned heads of departments empowered to transfer the employees and officials working therein, to harass those not befitting his personal choice and benefits. As far as posting of police personnel at far-flung places, rural and semi-urban centres, I don't feel it will help in any way to curb corruptions that we believe to be prevailing in the department itself. Should we believe that the police personnel placed in such centres are less corrupt ? Better you get the answer from local people to have a different opinion on the issue. more
All police stations must have S.P. rank officer as SHO. They are likely to deliver better and courteous service to the citizens. Mere transfers are not useful. more
Crimes and Offences so raising amidst failure of Law Order more
I AGREE WITH SEEMA. All state employee wants salary like that of central Government employee , they why should not follow the central government procedure for posting (3 years in one district ), departmental enquiries, fixing responsibility, compulsory retirement etc. more
