Looting consumers with taxes

If one buys a 20 lakh Indian car 9 lakh is going to Govt kitty.

If one buys a 40 lakh foreign components made car 25 lakh is going to Govt kitty

Till we resolve this ghanta kuch nahi ji raha desh ka mere more

Because of excess population, Govt is levying taxes, so that freebees can be distributed to the poor. Unless Population is controlled, nothing can improve. more

This is not true only for vehicles. Its on all products. We finally land up paying taxes at multiple levels, nearly 40-50% more on actual prices. Over and above all this, we pay income tax. Unfortunately, no government wishes to have a serious look at this. more

This kind of thinking is really wrong. It is correct that the government is levying heavy taxes on these cars. The amount of pollution which is generated is huge and the brunt of the effects of pollution is borne by the poorer people in the society. I have seen that in many of these big cars, one or two people go about polluting the environment. This is the price they have to pay for that.This is like the thinking of the westerners who pontificate and dictate terms to the third world to reduce the carbon foot prints while they themselves have been increasing it year by year. Secondly, right from people earning in crores to double/ triple digit income per month demand everything to be cheap, if possible free. Then how can the government cope up? Please reflect on these issues before accusing the government of 'profiteering' which itself is a wrong statement as clearly explained by Sri Raghavan Thanigaivel. Let us ask ourselves what we can do for the country instead of demanding all the time. more

I feel high end cars emit minimal pollution. Small n ill
maintained vehicles cause more pollution. Luna and TVS Suzuki mopeds used to emit more pollution than motorcycles. more
