Make Railways Better

Unfortunately Railways are interested in making money only and have no concern for its customers. For this the Senior Citizen Concession is removed and Dynamic fares introduced.
Tickets are issued more than the carrying capacity of trains, resulting in people without confirmed reservation (RAC) enter reserved compartments and cause discomfort to genuine passengers.
Even on normal days there is no system of crowed management on Railway platforms.
Railways may consider following suggestions:
* Stop issuing platform tickets.
* Allow passengers with confirmed tickets to enter platform. Print a QR Code on ticket which can be scanned at the entry point to platform.
* Tickets should carry a message for passengers to report one hour before departure of train. Entry to platform will be stopped 15 minutes before departure time of train.
* Train will enter platform 20 minutes prior to departure time
* RAC ticket holders whose tickets get confirmed should be requested to collect confirmed ticket from a counter for this purpose one hour before departure of train.
* Wait listed and RAC ticket holders should not be allowed to enter platform
* Trains should be either Fully Reserved or Not Reserved
* Unreserved tickets should be issued equal to number of seats available
* To meet the increased requirement of seats more than one rake should be made available more

RECENT DECISION TO STOP ADVANCE BOOKING FROM 120 DAYS TO 60 DAYS IS NOT UNDERSTANDABLE . CHECK OUT PEOPLE ARE UNABLE TO BOOK ADVANCE TICKETS. WITHIN FEW SECONDS ALL TICKETS ARE BOOKED SPECIALLY IN UTTER PRADESH TRAIN .PATANA AND LONG DISTANCE. DON'T KNOW RAILWAY WANT TO STOP CORRUPTION OR INCREASE more  
I agree with you but this problem existed when advance booking period was 120 days. Most of the trains usually got booked with minutes specially those originating from Maharashtra or South to UP, Bihar etc.
There is a website <ticketdate.in> which helps to find exact date for booking in 60 days advance. Pleas check it at least once and it may be useful for you and I hope for other members also. more  
The ticket checking at the entrance railway station is a foregone practice. How can one recognize ticketless passenger ? Even the platform ticket checking is not there at all even when the trains arrive and leave. more  
Many of the suggestions are only valid for the starting station and some not tenable as Senior Citizens often have others who come to put them on trains or to receive them. Firstly discipline has to be ingrained in us from childhood. This is a job of Society and not of the Railways. We cannot always point fingers at someone else. Secondly Railways have to improve their crowd management capabilities. They should have used a stand alone station for the specials, such as Tilak Bridge/ Delhi Safdarjung etc. Crowds should have been dispersed amongst multiple stations in Delhi NCR. more  
Government does not have an obligation to dish out tax payer money to anyone. Yes making money makes things better. Privatizing is the key. more  
Railways probably know all these issues....probably for terminus stations......how to deal with so many other stations.....Railways know only to introduce new trains....little bothered about discipline... more
