New MRP for Stents

The new MRP for Drug Eluting Stent is Rs 29,285 and for Bare Metal Stent is Rs 8043.

No one should be charged more than that by hospitals. If thats found, the legal metrology officials should book these hospitals. Not sure if they are doing it yet.

I think this is great opportunity for India to get heart patients from across the world and increase volumes. more

Yes right Gopaji more
Private hospitals are no more doing any social services but are there for making profit. Unless this attitude is changed no law can bring in transparency particularly when our judiciary is influential. Government should conduct an audit in all the private hospitals conducting such stents fixing operations and check the cost that the patients paid before the price control and after the price control. The cost to the patients in both the cases remains the same. In billing the figures are shifted as required by the government. more
Then Big hospital, who is making money thru giving target to Doctors,by giving them more money then they deserve. more
First of all, maximum Require Generic Medical store, and Generic Medicine Manufacturing company. more
Efforts should yet be made to find out the actual manufacturing cost of a stent. We know that every manufacturer has got their "fixed costs", but still, is the cost of Rs.28k justified for a spiral made of stainless steel weighing not more than a gram or two? more
It is a fact, but Hospitals will be taking plea of non-availability. more
It is not so simple as it looks. I recently had three stents put in my right artery, outside India. The procedure was done under local anaesthesia and I was watching the whole procedure on the monitor screen. Various types of stents were in the shelf in the operation room. One of the attendants took the appropriate stent from the shelf, scanned its serial number and bar code, etc. Both the surgeons checked the stents and then proceeded to implant them. After the procedure was over, the doctors showed me the implanted stents on the monitor screen, as well as the free flow of blood in all the arteries. When I received the bill, all the details of the stent - serial number, date of manufacture, make, model, etc. were indicated on the bill. In case all these things can be done transparently, only then we would be able to say that the reduced stent prices will lead to Indian hospitals getting more heart patients from abroad. more
