Do Organic foods have any standards in India. Does Fssai have standards for it.

Seems right now all we go by is the marketing claim of the producer. more

Perhaps it is not fully under the juridiction of FASSI, technology of producing organic food may be with the Agriculture ministry and based on their inputs FASSI may frame standards of processed food not on agricultural produce. more
The organic grown vegetables and fruits are good. however how many are interested in growing them and selling to the market or people. Unless a man who owns a piece of land and is interested in growing vegetables and fruits in organic way it is very difficult to convince all agriculturalist including for paddy field. This should be propagated widely by the agricultural department of the Government. The Agricultural department helps agriculturalist regarding the testing and using of manure to the land. They must advise the farmers to cultivate using green manure. Incentive has to be offered to those who produce and sell green manure similar to chemical manure. Stop use of chemicals and always sell equivalent organic manure. If the government is not taking initiative then it will take time to devlop organic products. In addition there should be a certifying agency to ensure the products are organic. A shop selling organic products must never sell other products grown using chemical manure. periodical checking of the products sold is a must and otherwise there is a possibility that even a small amount of non-organic material mixed with organic will create distrust and people will be wary of buying them. Every effort by all concerned must be essential to sell organic products. In thids trade honesty is essential. more
The acute interest of Politically linked Trade Unions since last 2 decades standing on the Producers side while a separate wing works out on the side of Markets . Neither the Governments Nor the Political Parties and never the Associations are thinking on the side of the general public who are poor and poorest of the poor that comprise about 50% of our population . Producers of Onion ; Tomato ; Potato ; Mirchi ; demand minimum market Rates for their products which are to be used mainly by the general public . Producers of Cottonseed ; Sugarcane ; demand their minimum market Rate . No Unions and Associations of the Farm Producers are listening to the advises of the Governments about the method or volume of cropping of different products . Neither the market rate nor the selling price shall be beyond the purchasing capacity of the general public . THESE PRICES SHALL NOT BE BASED ON THE RULING PRICES OF SUPER MARKETS OR BIG BAZAARS . The preference is to be the purchasing capacity of the general public AS OTHERWISE , THE PRODUCES WILL HAVE TO BE DUMPED ON ROADSIDE [ as observed earlier ] AND EVEN ON ROADS LIKE THE MILK OPTED IN MAHARASHTRA NOW . The basic factor is that the Governments are not to feed but provide the tools [ facilities ] to live and lead . more
There is a standard but who is checking how it is grown more
Organic foods growing is a process and I believe FSSAI issues products and testing standards. more
