Overloading of trucks corruption
One of the most common forms of corruption is transport officials permitting overloading of trucks and taking a cut. This circle should brainstorm what should be done to cut this corruption and instead increase the official revenue.

Every Toll Gate should have automated weigh bridge on the road itself. Gross weight of a truck should be recorded while passing a toll gate. Cost of the weigh bridge should be borne by the toll operator. This will record the gross weight being carried by a vehicle and cannot escape detection of overloading. more

To stop corruption, the officers of Tr dept should be accountable and punishable. When it comes to punishing corrupt officer, govt backs off as the bribe go to politicians too. Have strong rules and efficient judiciary more

In continuation of earlier post due to limit of words. Overloading is cause of frequent damage to bridges and roads and properties due extra load on engine. Overloading generally done in odd hours and at above average speed so accidents and loss of lives and properties are another attribute. Hope something should come up, I have raised such issue many times in Goa for years but nothing fruitful so far. As Goa is involved in illegal minings, sand extraction, laterite stone cutting,crushed stones mining and so on. A big nexus between , politicians, buisnessman, authorities going on and damaging Goan cost line and Sahyadri range of world fame. Please do some thing before it's too late please ๐๐๐ more

Suggestions Use GPS tracking to know over speeding,odd hours trips which are overloaded and goes un noticed. Regular pollution check of trucks. Regular check of noise levels as break liner, pressure horns , damaged body, back latch are cause of such violations. In Goa trucks are modified by raising side panels by welding planks of tin and top of it again by putting wooden planks. So net capacity goes upto 1.5 times of permitted. This is going on in day light trips on national highways, capital city roads and interiors. So regular checking of such violations and giving punishment in the form of penalty which doubles on subsequent same offenses plus 15 days suspension of permit to ply for work which can be doubled on next two offenses and fourth one suspension for a year. All these can be tracked by tamperproof GPS chip. There should be a toll free number for reporting such offenses or a app to upload videos of it, with option of anonymity.
