FSSAI feels complacent and of having discharged their duties by issuing orders/notifications, as if the compliance thereof is to be ensured by the consumers themselves. We have numerous laws/orders/notifications with double meaning languages keeping small windows opened for the perpetrators of illegal activities to escape the claws of laws by spending a nominal portion of their illegal earnings on the corrupt authorities. In an era when our nation has been critically defined as one of the most corrupt nations of the globe, nothing better could be expected from these agencies until the government sincerely works out the required action plans to uproot corruptions from the soil once for all. more

Gujarat is under prohibition for over half a century. But drinks are we are told easily available. Daman and Div are main sources and these are in the midst of Gujarat. Every hotel is brimming on weekends. Still at least the advantage is, there are no wine shops at every street corner as it is the case in states like Telangana. Keeping such items under state administration makes nonsense of any curbs. Honestly, we are giving only leap service to psychotropic substance restrictions and license its manufacture and sale. more
