States gaming tests done to keep number of +ves low

The growth rate of active cases fell 0.8% yday and this would have been a great relief if and only if the 7 day moving average of daily tests didnt show a significant decline. This is troubling.
1) Lowered testing will lead to delayed detection of cases and rise in deaths.
2) Reduction in testing is being driven by some states. Example Maharashtra
3) part of this reduction in testing is being driven by major states with very high test positivity rate.
4) Low testing only delays the inevitable and worsens the outcomes.

People need to put pressure in their states governments to test more. There should be no excuses. None. more

Testing and statistics will not bring down the spread of the infection. What is required is people cooperation in taking precautionary steps like proper wearing of mask, social distancing, et. Unfortunately, even a Union minister died yesterday due to it. If powers be do not follow, what about common people. A report came today that only 44% of people in India wear masks. In such a situation, Covid will go on dominating. more

A very useful observation, indeed, Ms Sarita. However, one would require valid and authentic statistics to convince readers of such observations. more
Tests generating data is valuable in that it is a measure of the density/degree of infection that the population has fallen into, but what/where is the strategy to deal with this unusual, never before seen complex situation, complex - as in the intertwining socio-economic dynamics with global reverberation, how can one not be senseful to ease the lock down for sale of liquor or conduct examination(s.) Say, even if we did make it out of a financial melt down, what shall follow for a over populated country in terms of health management given the kind of complications that Covid-19 has shown to create, we are headed for a disaster. more
