What is the scam here? Please explain? The difference is significant. Protien: There is around 20% more protein. YOu just can say 1.5 grams is nothing you are comparing it with 100 grams of bread A thick slice of bread can weight around 80 grams. But for calculation purposes and to average out let use assume one slice of bread is 50 grams. so 4 slices of brown bread will give you 3 grams more protein. That is half the protein in one egg. 3 grams is very good amount of protein. What do you want a different of 100 grams? Also the fiber is 45% more in Brown bread!!. Yes 45% more fiber is significant. We need 30 grams of fiber per day on an average. So 10 slices of brown bread will give you 30 grams of fiber. While with white bread you will have to eat 5 slices more that is 15 slices. Which means you will be consuming 4.5grams more fat to eat 30 grams of fiber. 10 slices will give you 3 grams more fat but only 21 grams fiber. and you will get 45 grams protein in 10 slices while with white bread you only get 38 grams protein so it is a full 7 grams less protien with 3 grams more fat and 10 grams less fiber. So there is no scam in this picture. The real scam is that brown bread is not maida free. They add Maida but also add some brown color to make it brown. The scam is that brown bread is not maida free for maida free you have to buy 100% whole wheat bread. which contains 12 grams of protein per 100 grams Brown bread can also contain chemicals or the color used can be carcinogenic. The best is to buy artisanal breads. The worst part of commerical bread or sliced bread is the calories and transfats Traditionally bread is quite healthy as it is only water yeast and flour(whole wheat) Maybe a spoonful of oil is added when proofing only to stop the crust from drying. While commerical breads and buns add margarine or transfats milk and even sugar(sugar in traditional or artisanal breads is only activate the yeast and that is completely digested by the yeast) that increase the apart from chemicals dough conditioners. Artisanal breads like breads from Baker's Dozen is made this way (not all breads but sourdough breads) and are very healthy but can be very costly. The best option if you eat breads is to get an oven or breadmaker and bake it yourself. Yeast flour and water and you don't even have to knead it there are no knead bread recipes online where you just mix it with spoon and leave it to proof for 18 to 24 hours. So you can just mix up the ingredients in the morning at around 8 and leave it and it will be ready to bake next 6 am after you bake and eat it just make another batch for the next day. more
As many of you have mentioned, this is nothing but a strategy to sell products in different names. We are producing thousands of MBA's graduating from universities and colleges across the country, so their work is to increase the sales of the products in different names. more
Since every Industry needs to add new product line to sustain their customers, all Bakeries also have added New Varieties: Brown Bread, White Bread, Multi Grain Bread, Whole Wheat Bread, Half Baked Bread & Oat Bread. It is easy to get FSSAI classification and has the contents claimed by company verified? I bet if one were to take a packet of bread to a private lab and get it tested, lot of differences would emerge to tall claims being made. Even if a person were to have a health setback, proving the cause to be the Bread would be almost impossible. more
I agree this is nothing but a scam. I have noticed that brown bread at times give out a distinct smell of a chemical. I have stopped buying them more
Probably this is also made of refined flour with a bit of brown colour (a chemical). If one wants to eat a bread , he should opt for whole wheat atta bread more
