Indian Railways Catering

Catering is very poor in railway. I most of travell in train no 15631/15631 & 15909/15910 between bikaner to Ghuwahati. My experiance in both trains is very bad. It both trains they sell packed food (like biscits, chocolate,cold drink, water, chips etc.) On more than MRP. Even on food they they charge Rs10-20 per food extra from the the quoted rate. Tea, the quality of tea is very poor. In open market no one will buy this tea in Rs. 5 but the quoted rate is Rs7 and caters are charging Rs. 10 for this low quality tea.
Every day thousands of people travell in these train and vendors are making big money by charging extra. The railway officials like TTE , guard and others also know all this but they dont take any actions or complain against them.

The quality and the quantity of food supplied is poor. Often they do not wear gloves. It is obvious that there is pilferage of food. Even the price of beverages like tea and coffee varies. Because coffee is costlier than tea the vendors bring only coffee despite several requests to serve tea. Poor quality food. Unhygienic, quantity not specified. Not worth the price

Quality of food is not good ......... wonder if any food safety audit is conducted for train pantries
Personal hygiene/grooming of the staff not maintained as per food safety requirement,
Medical status of the food handlers ????????????
Request the authorities to concentrate on food safety aspect too

I have seen, while travelling by long journey express trains, the catering service and the quality of foods are very bad except Rajdhani Express and Satabdi Express. I have not yet travelled by Duronto Express. So Government should also take care of this side.
