5-day working week for banks

while digitisation has considerably reduced the visit to banks, one can still see a lot of visitors to the bank, especially the senior citizens, women SHGs,fixed deposit holders etc.
for the convenience of such people the govt.should not accede to the request of the bank employees union to reduce the working week to 5 days. more

We should not go for 5 day week. Every thing is not online. There are many queries like KYC and others, where your physical presence is required. more
Looking to the very high number of working hours everywhere and stretched timings linked with distance travelling, traffic chaos, higher & higher expectations from employers leading to increased stress levels and all I am of the opinion that 5 days working should be mandatory at each & every work place. Getting holidays once a week i.e only Sundays doesn't become useful to balance work: life. Necessary is to relook at productivity rather than counting working hours a week. In industry & factories, it is different story...normal workmen has 12 hrs a day more
First of all psu banks need to ensure that their atm s are in working condition since whenever i go i see the board out of order and also he remaining 5 days they need to ensure that the passbook printing machine is available for printing and staff are not very courteous . more
Five days a week would reduce bank deposit and flow of money would be restricted people would desist from depositing in money as such decision is wrong precedent more
If the banks work for five day a week it will effect the services of the banking industry very badly. Bank is a service institution, even with digital banking there are so many banking functions which requires visit to the bank. Secondly in our country there are millions of people who are not fully conversant with digital banking functions and these people visit the bank for their banking needs. Another important thing is extended working hours will effect family life of the bank employees specially women who has children and elderly parents at home. more
