Act against misleading ads of Patanjali

In yesterdays paper this misleading ad by Patanjali was published. Says ‘research & evidence based permanent solution for diabetes & rejuvenation of pancreatic cells’. Every month my father sees patients with uncontrolled diabetes & organ damage (kidneys, eyes) who have tried similar remedies.

Why does the consumer ministry not take action against Patanjali?? Been like 3-4 ads I have seen atleast since pandemic started. Are you working for babas or the consumers?? more

Patients go for short cuts to get cured. That is the main reason for what you have narrated. But one can not do much about it. That is human nature! more
Should take stringent action if the claims in the advertisement is not true. I reiterate punish only when found guilty. However, it is difficult as Baba has the moral support from the present government machinery. more
There is increased tendency to criticise Indian system of medicine which as such is an established system and there are authentic scriptures available. The problem to my mind lies in trying to validate Indian system as per western system protocol. Both are poles apart. Like the original post, my late father was a qualified Ayurvedic doctor from an old premier institute and was in govt. job posted in rural area whom I had seen from childhood doing miraculous treatments in a scenario of deprivations attending to general medical problems, dental, opthhalmic, ENT and general surgical. My writing all this is to say that Ayurvedic system is not to be blamed but as usual there are unscruplus people in the market openly selling oil and tablets for sexual rejuvenation in the garb of ayurvedic medicines while they do not conform to classic ayurvedic formulations. How about practically all FMCG companies now producing and selling toothpastes claiming to be based on ayurved. Is'nt it surprising that they have done the formulation so quickly and tested their product for all their tall claimed benefits. Nobody cries foul simply because most of them are under westen banner. I feel sorry to see a string of disdain for the word "BABA" and may be perhaps for the things Indian. more
Action should be taken even against MNCs and other organizations. However, relatively easy to take potshots at Baba Ramdev. Ensure that laws are equally applicable, only then this point is valid. more
Misleading advertisements hve become ver common no a days in this country, may be because of absence of stringent action against those by the administrative authority. It may be Patanjali, Reliance or any one else, Government should ensure stringent action against all those irrespective of their stature. more
