Over the period, the quality of news stuff has deteriorated. Most of the space is occupied by Advertisements, that too in prime places i.e. front page etc. Most of the time they do not give any developmental news in Infrastructure etc, where as Govts are putting lot of efforts and priorities to these things. This type of news if it is given on front page, it will boost the moral of its readers. Even any time or cost over run should also be mentioned, so that general public is aware of it and can decide, who is the culprit. This information will be useful for Citizens, when Elections are held and can reward/punish. Another thing is even most of the news have only on first day, thereafter it is forgotten. It should be followed on regular basis till it meets its conclusive end. more
News papers are not more for providing information, but for advertisements. They get money from advertisement and also from the poor reader, who purchases the newspaper for getting news around the globe. The front page should be advertisement free, but if you go for advertisement, which is at the cost of the consumer, then the cost of the newspaper should be either free or nominal. The total newspaper hardly contains 25% space with news and rest are money minting advertisements. The cost of advertisements are loaded on the consumer, who purchases the product. more
Totally wrong by Times of India. TOI is a non-ethical news paper. They will do everything to get money. I remember there was period in late 80's and 90's when TOI was banned by M. Ratan Tata and none of the ads of Tata Group / press releases were were given to TOI. more
Gambling ads should be banned...It's not about the citizens who are in middle age. It's about the teens who get into wrong habits of earning big money through gambling. Would any parent appreciate their teen agers playing rummy instead of working hard on education ??? Further more, if they start winning, they may get into stealing to play further and win. It's a merry go round on a wrong note. Please give it a thought.. more
Every society has its culture. The practices followed are normally developed over years. Most of these are for the good of the society in general and also considering the local climates. So if a house in Europe has a fire place, we need'nt copy that here if not necessary. Similarly we as asociety have always looked down upon display of public affection (read kissing),nudity, gambling etc. with this in mind I endorse the views expressed by Ms. Ashima Gupta more
