Again 70-90% off - real or fake products

Seems like many ecommerce retailers are again ready to offer big discounts of 70-90% on republic day.

My question is: are these discounts for real or more like promotion of fake goods.

A study must be undertaken by the consumer ministry and other stakeholders to find out how much of counterfeit products are promoted by ecommerce sites themselves knowingly.

Also, what are the blacklisting rules if a seller is found to be guilty of selling fake products? more

This is also the problem of mass production. When products are produced in a highly automated environments the production will be in millions. Certainly the cost of production will be the lowest. However, After about 50% of the products are sold out which will be at the premium rates the producers now wants to clear the stuff from the shelves. Thus gives huge discount. more
As per my experience, a retailer can go upto 40% discount, if products are directly sourced from the manufacturers. Higher discount can only be given on Product price once it is highly inflated. This is not observed incase of branded products, but it may happen for unbranded products. Otherwise products are old or have very minute fault/defect, which is not vissible to the consumers initially as common consumers are not well experienced. One should understand that the manufacturers would always recover his production cost in any sales/marketing channel. If 70-90% offer is being made, it would definitely be a mix of rejected/damaged goods which is being offloaded as also unsold stock. Pictures would be deceptive and when you actually get the product - in online transaction, you would be left feeling cheated. During the implementation phase of GST, many offers of similar kind were flooding the market. I saw Reliance Foot Print Offering 70% Off and rather than ordering Online, I dropped into a Reliance Footprint store and found that the offer was only available on Online purchase and the store was selling everything on MRP with just 5% Discount. I was told my the salesman that the stock condition would be known only when you get the product in hand. So there are no Free Lunches/Dinner coming from any manufacturer. more
I agree with Gopabandhu Mohapatra.Additionally for items if shelf life expiry is approaching then also shopkeeper will give higher rebate. more
