Airlines can not deny their responsibility. The concerned authorities need to look into. Hope some one responsible is monitoring local circles or may be it is brought to their notice. Otherwise air travelers are at their mercy. more
How the airlines can deny responsibilities of the luggage once handed over in their sole custody at the luggage check in point intact? The concerned ministry should look into the issue and enact suitable rules & regulations making the airlines solely responsible for any damage or loss of luggage/contents before handing over them back to the passengers. more
If you've taken travel Insurance, the process is reasonably simple. If you haven't you can still take action against the Airline and get some compensation - I got $100 in the US for a torn bag and damaged goods. Up to you to determine the value of your time - minimum 1 - 2 hours with max 2,000 to show for it - not worth it in India. more
Given the choice and free hand, everybody would like to be free of responsibility but for heavy salaries. more
There are 3 issues regarding Baggage issues : What Rakesh Kwatra refers to Tampering of Baggage at some point where not under the CCTV and physical supervision . It is done by the lower downs fast moving consumer goods , which can be cashed immediately . They are in such a hurry and those cases they cant lock it back . Only when there is sign of Tampering we can raise a complaint . But each passenger arrives at an unearthly hour wants to reach home as early as possible and to avoid the hassle never reports . As this part is known well to the Baggage tampering team they get emboldened to continue . If only complaint is made it will be east for the airport vigilance to trace the culprit and put an end . I have heard of this on and off . The other one is open steel and lock back . In this case the passenger can't do anything as the Baggage would have gone out of the airport area before reporting . The third one lost or misplaced baggage which is very well taken care of by all airlines . This while reporting they take the contact details of the passenger and also ask for the addresses where the passenger is likely to stay next 4 days after disembarking airport . If it is a misplace Baggage it is delivered by a well dressed staff at the doorstep whether you are in the town where disembarked or moved to another town . This had happened several times when groups arrive with British Air and some other ones also . These checked in Baggage gets misplaced and goes to some destination and rerouted. The third is lost Baggage , after the airlines isn't able to trace give a compensation based on our list . Of course if there are any contraband the passenger will not be in a position to report the loss. more
