Artificial shortage of stents by manufacturers

Read the article shared in circle about abbott and medtronic doing a recall and creating artificoal shortage of stent in the market.

I dont' understand if their landing cost is 16000 and selling prices is 26000 why are they resorting to such tactics.

How will take action here? Consumer Affairs or Pharmaceutical Pricing authority? more

In our country i.e. India (I don't know about other countries), instead of using the brain for innovation creatively, try to take short cuts and indulge in activities that are ethically wrong. Ethics start from the self. The founder of the manufacturing unit should have this ethic believing "Vasudeva Kutumbe" means World is our family. Only then the scenario will change. We teach our children to be honest, but ourselves keep on discussing in-ethical matters in front of them too. Again : who will bell the cat. Ethics cannot be enforced by law. It is internal and individual specific. Let's be ethical without asking others "you be ethical." The practitioner of ethics is always happy and on the right side of morality and law. more

It is necessary to take out the veil from the MNCs, who have been part of the conspiracy to overcharge the patients unethically. There is an urgent need to take them to court and ensure that justice is done to the Indian patients. MNCs shall not be allowed to create artificial scarcity and sell their products at high premium in black. The CEOs of all MNCs must be jailed and put to hard labour for a few years at least and MNCs must be made to pay very hefty fines of few thousand crores each for their wrongdoings ever since they are in the business in India. A very strong message shall go to everyone across the globe that India and Indians can not be hoodwinked. more
