Be careful of Airtel/others

As per news reports, for people who have been going to airtel for getting aadhaar linked, these fellows have been opening an airtel payments bank account for them without their knowledge.

UIDAI has finally issued a notice to them. Wasnt there a poll done by localcircles on penalties towards banks and telcos for compromising aadhaar information? Probably airtel needs to be booked under both of these...

How to ensure this is followed upon? Will local circles or dept of consumers affairs advocate this for consumer? more

Majority of Indians (both illiterate & so-called educated) are notorious for doing lots and lots of things / transactions - fraudulently / illegally / in benami ways to take care of their earnings made through CORRUPTION / CHEATING / EXTORTION / BLACKMAILING / ADULTERATION / TREASON / UNDER - OVER INVOICING, etc., etc., etc. The list is LONG enough to reach the moon. With NO checks and balances in place, or NO Accountability anywhere in the system - the country earned the avoidable worldwide distinction to be known as one of the most corrupt/undisciplined and lawless. With a view to controlling the scenario and damage control, with particular emphasis on financial malpractices, the present Govt has gone all out to make AADHAAR mandatory covering every walks of life of citizens. Good Move indeed. If you are clean, honest, straight forward, have nothing to hide, have no AIDS (Accumulated Income Deposited in Switzerland) then you can sleep peacefully. Those who are not, well, keep barking like a stray street dog - day in and day out. You will have no one lending their ears to you. more
Opening an Airtel money or Mpesa account is trivial. And, means nothing. It is just a wallet. Like Paytm. I can open an account in your name if i have your mobile number. If you dont put money in the wallet, nothing will happen. If your transactions with the wallet are less than 10k (or 15k in some cases) per month, then KYC is not required. The sms is of course to fool people. Once linked to aadhar, then the wallet has completed KYC and you can transact more than 10k per month. But, if you choose not to use the wallet, it means nothing. There is nothing illegal in it. Of course, they are fooling you by not giving the whole information. more
In India, everything is funny. When UPA started Aadhar, there was no legislation. After 10-years, last year in Loksabha, FM of NDA by a finance bill had introduced that for all finance related matters Aadhar linkage is essential. For terrorist prevention, SC directed Aadhar linkage for all mobile connections. Suddenly SC opined that there should be protection of individuals personal details. Now SC has posted a date about Aadhar hearing. Why all these confusions? Parliament should enact a law giving exact definition of Aadhar and it's scope of use. It's the story of 'Who will bell the Cat?' more

Not only Airtel, HDFC Bank had send me a Credit Card with payment recovery linked to my SB A/c. Though I did not generated PIN, yet HDFC had credited my card with Rs.1299, then assuming that I am unable to pay, had converted to loan with 4-EMI, added loan application fee Rs.100 plus EMI plus Interest and recovered from my SB A/c. It took me 3-months to get all the refunds and then hot listed my Credit Card. So all citizens must be careful & vigilant about everything around. more
There is a phone no of every Credit/ Debit Card issuing authority, by which you can report that the card is lost/ misplaced. After hot-listing, no one will be able to make any transaction on that card be it at ATM, Shop or Net-banking etc. till you request for a duplicate / replacement of Card. Just to appraise all that State Bank Card is not a product of State Bank. So don't get misled by offers by marketing executives. more
please elaborate what is Hotlisting, its advantage- am 70 yrs, hence the guidance needed. more
