Beware of Redmi phones

On friday night, cousin was travelling from surat to Bhusawal, at 12:30 am felt heat in pocket.

Suddenly took a jump from upper birth and took out the phone phone from pocket and thrown on floor, phone got burnt fully.

In the process his 2 right hand fingers got burnt.

Whole compartment got full with smoke as it was raining outside and all the windows were closed.

Incident was scary. By God's grace it didn’t blast in his pocket else it could be lot worse. more

It was an isolated case. I have one since last 5 years or so. There was no such issues excepting the strength of the battery got substantially lost. more
Redmi phones are being made in India since last about 5 years now. But that does not rule out the possibility of any manufacturing defect. However, there could be multiple factors causing such situations. more
As per heading brand was Redmi, However It is a chinese brand and some times ago it was most trusted and affordable brand in India. I have also used Redmi phones for more than 6 years but not faced such problem. It may be a defective phone, or some other reasons such as, once upan a times I felt that my phone was heating in my pocket, and after putting out phone from pocket I observed that by what ever reason (by activation of any short key or camera key/ video recording key got pressed by mistake that caused excessive drain of battery which caused phone got excessively heated and phone was misbehaving. Any how I could turned of the camera and switched of the phone for some time. After turning on the phone again it was working normally and i never faced that problem again. Please note that this is my own experience, I am neither an expert in the field nor a fan of Redmi phones. My above experience was also with Redmi phone and I used my phone 2-3 years after that without any problem. more
