If one goes on its website to find bis approved gold jewellers for dhan teras, the site fails.

Please get this fixed. more

Of late, I find a lot of comments on BIS. Are they really relevant? The bureau frames standards. The general public is just unaware of it. Who is to enforce it? Does this authority ever enforce it or is just a "novel" to be read and forgotten. This exercise of standardization should have improved the quality of all goods covered by BIS. Has it really made any effect? If we are happy to see only the BIS markings, then we are the most compliant nation for standards. Even duplicates carry this mark. The Indian manufacturer is least bothered about quality. Else Chinese merchandise would not have been sold in Indian markets. more
