Bridge Maintenance Standards
Majerhat bridge in Kolkata just collapsed. Can we have bridge maintenance standards in India and Govt that will enforce them. Shame on those who were responsible. more

Most of these bridges were built by the British government prior to the country getting it’s independence. Today, we do not have the expertise because the employment of the persons is NOT based on the merits. Who knows, whether the people employed know anything about the bridge maintenance subject at all? One goes anywhere in the country, one finds that the roads are neither made up to the minimum standards, nor are they maintained properly. That proves the point that people such employed, are either useless or are corrupt to take bribe and allow inferior roads to be made or probably both.
