BSNL's Safe Custody facility of telephone

About BSNL's Safe Custody facility of telephone - BSNL offers safe custody facility of its phone for the consumer in case the consumer has to be away for three months or more. A nominal safe custody charge is levied. However, if one also has Broad Band facility on the phone, then Broad Band is disconnected, and when the user requests for release of phone from safe custody, Broad Band is not released. One has to request for issue of a new Broad Band connection. The user is billed with a fresh security deposit as well as Installation charges. BSNL forgets that Broadband was already installed on his/her premises and not installation is required. The customer has to run to the telephone dept office, some times many rounds are required because the concerned officer is not available, or he is not competent to correct the bill, etc. to get the bill corrected. The Accounts Officer, only waves the fresh charge of Security deposit, but maintains the installation charge levied again. This anomaly did not exist prior to 2013 but some one has thought of earning money through this dubious means also at the BSNL. Will the concerned ministry look into this cheating by BSNL. more

The BSNL is not interested in doing any thing except paying salry to staff at the cost of governements administered prices like distributing ration to people. It is not also technically strong and developed as against the private oprators and hence should be closed to save the huge drain to govrmnmrnts. more
Both broadband and landline can be put under safe custody for a charge. I have done it a number of times. more
I feel that the BSNL should automatically restore the broad band connection once the telephone is released from safe custody and asking the subscriber to apply afresh for broad band is totally unfair and is against natural justice. more
The rules framed by BSNL is only to suit them, not the consumer. more
This has to be brought to the notice of the ministry of Telecom and ask it to discontinue such procedure. more
