I had unpleasant experience with this. My tatkal ticket got automatically cancelled due to non-confirmation. In this condition too, IRCTC deducted cancellation charges. This is daytime loot. more

purchasing power too is the biggest concern first ? what is not a LOOT as the world gets more modern and online? ????????? more
Our LocalCircles should take up the issue of abnormal cancellation charges for Air Travel as well. I booked 2 tickets on Indigo for Chennai for Rs14,400. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cancel the tickets a day before, and the airlines refunded just Rs3,800 deducting Rs10,600. Loot at its height. Min of Aviation doesn't care not Consumers Forum. We are just helpless. more
Air India had charged me even when the flight, where in I had advanced booking, was cancelled just a few hours before the scheduled departure. No alternative flight was offered and booking amount was refunded after over a month deducting Rs.300/- for the reason not provided. There was no consideration for the harassment and disruption caused to the flier. more
If they reduce cancellation charges, on day one itself, all trains will be full. I will book the tickets even if remotely, there is a chance of my travelling. As cancellation charges are very less, I will not bother. In that case, again, all from Local Circle will still blame railways for the situation. Please have a balanced view. Think from both sides, also, what will happen if cancellation charges are reduced. Without thinking of repercussions of the action demanded, it is not proper to blame railways. Higher cancellation charges are for those who do not block tickets just in case they plan to travel and deter them from unnecessary booking and then cancelling tickets. So, it goes both ways. We must think from other side as well. more
That's right. Also, for someone who can afford 1st AC ticket, Rs. 240/- deduction is reasonable and affordable too. Same is true for other catagories. Real loot is in air travel. more
You are correct sir. more
