Chennai today, India tomorrow

The attached video is a drive on bike in Chennai highlighting how people are queuing for water.

This is how 21 cities of India will look like by next year if we dont get our act together.

I urge member of localcircles to escalate this in mission mode to Govt of India and their Chief Ministers. more

What you said is true - 25% of Hyderabad and 50% of its out skirts are in dire water trouble. Leaders are not interested in good rule but Making Money - Big promises - Winning elections - Crooked plans and ruining the area for which they are elected. In Sattenpalli and Narsaraopet Constituency in AP it is said Speaker Kith and His lieutenants looted public and Collected K - Tax from Fruit Vendor to Big Builder Job seeker to employees - It is horrible. This CM Loots you for 5 years and Next one Next - Courts do not take decisions on Political Leaders cases for decades. more
I am surprised this is age old problem, but no Govt has done anything. They gave reason that some LAKES, were covered for REAL ESTATE. Now the best solution is DESALINATION UNITS. In Gulf Countries this is being done big way, as there are no Rivers. There has to be a strong representation by Public, n expose Water Tanker Cartel, they get water, public does not get, how ? ????. Social workers n Local administration should be pushed. Make it a Vote issue, who dont solve, you will not be voted. Make it a Strong Public Issue. more
Let there be awareness and preserve rain water and under ground water. There should also be research, as to how to use the sea water after necessary treatment. more
Chennai water crisis is world known case now but this situation is brewing up across the country. Governments at the centre and state level must address this issue on priority. Of course local bodies must play a vital role in this. Following steps can be looked into. Linking of rivers/canals Cleaning up of existing water bodies Conducting awareness campaign to save water Making rain harvesting system in place as mandatory in building complexes Conversion of sea water to palatable level Methods to reuse of water drained out. Erosion of soil at the riverside/Banning removal of soil from riverbeds more
