Chinese ecommerce apps

I came to find out about this platform after reading today's economic times article below stating how chinese ecommerce apps are about to disrupt trade in India by shipping items directly from china to consumer in India.

The govt must ensure indian smes are protected and consumers must also know that the product they are buying from such apps is evading taxes.

consumer ministry please enforce laws so everyone who is selling in India has to comply on MRP legal metrology or face enquiry. legal metrology inpsectors must visit these companies if they have liason offices or warehouses in india and conduct scrutinies.

Firstly we have to make our product more competative then Chinese product. For this labor laws are to be changed. more
Dept. Of Consumer Affairs (Government of India) may please look into the matter to protect the interest of the local manufacturers. more
Your concern for smes is truly praiseworthy. Chinese items are already inundating our markets. Indian Administration should cancel forthwith any such moves by the Chinese. more
I agree with Mr.G. C. Mathur (Convenor-Trustee, Binty (A Voluntary Consumer Organisation), New Delhi) that do not buy any Chinese product offered on direct smes to you, force these eCommerce activities to come through proper official channels by paying the national taxes and carrying the prescribed label information. Intension of Chinese exporters appears to avoid checking items (banned /substandard /defective items) and avoiding taxes in India. Indian public is not alert USA is to check the item and complaint to Govt. Authority. more
I think we are more or less thinking with emotional background. In an era of free trade policy, the items could be sold any where. A question arises whether the Indian traders are behaving ethically. Why I as a consumer should buy the product at the higher price when the product at the cheaper price is available. Why Indian product should be expensive than the Chinese product. Why Indian manufacturers cannot compete with Chinese manufacturing. Is it only the consumer to behave emotionally in buying the product at higher prices and our system keep on earning from corrupt practices. Quality level of the products could be controlled by the market forces. The China is not only selling products to India but is also supplying to developed countries like USA. There the consumers are alert and sensitive to the quality procurement. Make in India and Startup initiatives have been only election slogans to catch votes on emotional background like GST and Demonetization. Similar was the slogan Minimum Government-Maximum Governance. If it was an intention of a minimum government then why the taxes even as high as 100% (petroleum products). more
