Circle on side effects of medicine

It has been good experience seeing these kinds of constructive forums or circles.

I wanted to suggest creation of a circle on side effects of different medicines as experienced by people.

If everyone shares their and family members experience we can create a very helpful database of real side effects as experienced by people. more

It is a compulsory practice to dispense drug with prescription and a printed write up on the drugs, side effects , contra indications , reactions etc in West is given to the patient immediately. When a drug is prescribed in India they just get it as a product in hand and no advise .The educated can look in to MIMS or pharmacy book for the said details .But common people must ask doctors if in doubt or the doctor must explain before hand at the time of precpscription. In general once a drugs is dispensed it has to be read ( the literature attached to it) by the concerned patient. You do not need a forum for that. The practice of selling drugs with out prescription runs to 90% in India now despite claims by drug inspectors. more
There are also apps..Ex. : Medplus more
It is the bound duty of the physician, while prescribing a medicine, to educate the patient of possible side effect(s) . Further, he has to ascertain that medicine intended to be prescribed can be well tolerated by the patience. It is unfortunate for us that we do not keep a medical history/diary of ourselves. I shall request all my countrymen kindly 1) open one medical diary (which may be an exercise book used in schools) for each member of the family 2) enter date wise the name of the physician visited, and medicine(s) prescribed, dosage(s) thereof 3) Preserve the prescriptions including cash memo . if purchased. If not purchased (given by the hospital - usually a Govt. Hospital - Batch no., Date of manufacture) 4) Kindly diarise if some medication(s) was/were discontinued in mid-course 5) Carry your Diary while visiting any Doctor and present your diary. I admit, that the above suggestions may prove awkward to many of us, but this systemisation would be of immense value at some critical juncture. Those who are serving in the Armed Forces, Central Govt Health Scheme would find that there history gets automatically recorded in computerised data base. Beneficiaries under the Central Govt Health Scheme, in general, have adopted this discipline. Particulars of medicines dispensed gets recorded in a computerised data base. more
Already there are a number of circles. Another circle will increase. It will be better, if it can be discussed under AYUSH - Ayurveda, Yoga, Homeopathy and More more
