Consumer Affairs is a failed ministry

This pandemic I have seen antiviral flooring, house, furniture, clothing, shoes, and what not being advertised to mislead people. There is a marketing code on medicine and doctors, but nothing to check these misleading claims. A doctor’s apron is most abused in commercials.

The Consumer Affairs Ministry is such a failed one. A year or two back they had gotten active and were actively consulting but now dead. more

The Consumer Affairs Ministry needs to tighten their grip on trading doing all mischieves. more
Its rightly pointed out that what is the scope, role and responsibility of ASCI (Advertising Standards Council of India) who is supposed to check the veracity of the claims made by various advertisers to protect the consumers. Though most of the consumers are educated and well placed in societal strata, some of them are not aware of the false claims and go by the visual advt and start using such products and also recommend others. Imagine the plight of other gullible Rural consumers who does not even have enough/right source or wherewithal to check such claims and fall prey . There must a right and effective mechanism to check and implement strict control on such misleading advertisements. more
Unscrupulous people are always there to convert the clamity into opportunity. The Consumer Affairs Ministry should wake up and take suitable action without further delay. more
Very sad situation. Everybody cannot be an activist and file and follow up on complaints. Government needs to have proper watch and control. more
What about ASCI if not censor board. Why ASCI being funded when it is turning out to be a failure. The body which is funded from industry which are their members, how could you expect such a body to take care of consumers. more
