Consumer Forums at District-level can hear casesupto Rs.1 crore

There may, hopefully, not be many cases of consumer complaints regarding goods or services valuing anywhere near Rs.1 crore. But what is more critical is the time taken to dispose of cases of complaints. Consumer Courts following procedures of courts and allowing Lawyers to plead cases cause undue delay. Consumer Courts should hear the complaint of the consumer and examine whatever evidence can be produced by the Complainant, examine what the concerned supplier of goods or services can explain and clarify without applying the complex rules of evidence.Based on such examination the consumer court should dispose of the complaint in the light of common sense. more

Which means the Government and the Judiciary needs to looks at the constitution of the District Consumer Forums. If it cannot speed up the justice dispensation then they be best be disbanded and alternate system introduced. The member promising delayed decision should be taken off and action taken for such wanton statements. more
When the functioning of the District Courts are being questioned, what to talk of disposal of cases. more
I am fully agree with views of Dr. Shikha Chhibbre. I have also filed case against P P JEWELLERS for selling fake gold jewellery in August 2015. The Hon'ble president of the forum never sit in the court due to which I am getting only dates and dates for oral argument for the past one year. When I objected on it, Hon'ble member of CDFR, Shalimar Bagh openly said in the court that you have to wait for at least 10-15 years for getting judgement and and if not so, transfer your case from here. Also commented "Consumer want judgement in 100 days by paying 100/ as fee". So Consumer courts are just wastage of your valuable time and money. more
