CONSUMER PROTECTION BILL 2018 PRESENTED :

If all goes well it could become an act and replace the old 1986 Act that didn’t restrict traders from malpractices and profiteering .

There are lots of points raised and included that will help the consumer : but a couple of them that will encourage and reassure the customers’ interests.

They are :

* Punitive action against TALL CLAIMS .

* A penalty on Endorser of the misleading advertisement , that is the Celebrity who Knocks of the big amount .
SO THE CELEBRITIES BETTER DO THEIR HOMEWORK AND TRIALS BEFOR THEY ENDORSE .

I think that is THE BEST OF THE WHOLE LOT FO CHANGES ;

OUR CHILDREN WILL START LISTENING TO PARENTS AND GRAND MOMS . more

All said and done on the paper, becomes a paper tiger, unless and until the implementation of the Act is fortified with concrete proposal as to how it can be done. There are many laws and regulations in all fields, but when it comes to implementation we fail. As a common man i have lodged a few complaints on service providers like I-0n, Flipcart,R T O , and many more to add, but the reply is a big ZERO. This change can come out only if we as consumers start a motion of boycotting such vagabonds collectively, and the present forum is one step in the right direction, it will take time to streamline...... more
This means that we are all in a kind of "limbo". Can't do much until this situation is clarified..... more
Yes Shishirbhai. There are Regulators for other fields too like Banking and Insurance. But while the Insurance Regulating and Development Authority of India(IRDAI) is a mere post office for consumer grievance as it passes on the grievance to the same Insurance Company which has already rejected the grievance and against whom one is complaining.It clearly says"Consumer Grievances are not under its function".If we talk of Insurance OMbudsman, it has no authority to get its own mandatory AWARD implemented. Insurance companies defy such Awards and IRDAI merely keeps silence. As for the Bank regulator RBI, it has constituted an Authority called Banking Ombudsman .It used to work conscientiously till few years back but of late, it is pro bank ,giving them a long rope to squeeze the account holder. And if complaints are made, it works haphazardly, disposes of the complaint ex-parte i.e.withut hearing/calling the complainant .This is done under a clause which debars you from appealing to any RBI Authority. Thus both are least consumer friendly. Now the Proposed Consumer Protection Regulalator. First we are not sure if it will be passed as the Mnufacturer/Service Provider lobby is too strong and may pressurise at all levels to stall the bill or get it passed with dilution. And then how the authority will implement will have to be observed.So, there is a long wait for celebration. more
Govt should first think on enforsement mechanism before this bill is enacted. Hire more uncurrupted officials and subordinates ti more
Loop holes are left to favour of trades more
