Consumer Unfriendly grievance redressal

Please see the ad from news paper today. Gst reduction is a great move but very few retailers are actually complying and at the bottom it says if the consumer has any complaint they need to approach state screening committees or central standing committees on anti profiteering.

This is just so so lame. Basically saying dont bother us with complaints.

Why cant your gst anti profittering officials become part of this consumer affairs circle. The mrp officials have acted on some complaints when gst was charged above mrp. Your officials can also do the same for excess profit complaints. Pls make it consumer friendly. Also have a toll free number as rural people dont have access to circles... more

Leads one unobtrusively into a vicious circle of bureaucracy.....and no solutions! more
Grievance Redressal in India is a joke or a publicity stunt. Lodge a complaint on any Govt. site and wait for the reply. When you get it after a month or to two, you will get a reply that the matter was looked into and is under consideration of such and such a ministry or department. Does this redress the grievance? One would have appreciated only when the matter was looked into thoroughly and a solution offered. Else this portal has no meaning. A certain problem had arisen in 2010. The opposing party was bound to buy time and resorts to all tactics of delay. Then the matter is somehow taken to courts. After 4 years, the matter is dismissed for want of prosecution at the courts. The matter is once again taken up at the earlier level and prolonged. The appellate authority takes another one and a half year only to fix the date of hearing. The primary issue is still remains unresolved. One patiently waits for this in 2017. Will it be over in 2018? Not sure. By then, damage is already done. In the interregnum all concerned are moved, only to get the standard reply. Finally, the opponent succumbs and admits by reversing his stand. Still the deciding authority is yet to come to the final conclusion. Bear in mind, the opponent has still one more opportunity to go to courts. This clearly is to be understood as another 4/6 years of delay to arrive at a solution. Can we call this as the rule of law? more
To deal with anti profiteering through this LocalCircle groops, as a part of governance we can ask or invite the State Screening Committees and the Central Standing Committees to be the lead members in the same way and manner as is the Department of Consumer Affairs of GoI. It is a good idea and would request the LocalCircle authorities to invite the said committees to be there with us. Within the Committees offices there will be officials to attend to the complaints as we have in DoCA by the name of Helpline Desks. more
which agency is given the task of policing , discrimination should be used , when powers are given to govt officials exploitation occurs , even after high increase in pay scales , corrupt govt officials go scot free , this will lead to harassment of traders , most of gst violations occur for on line transactions they should be targeted , besides the concerned officials should also know high profit making industries, rather than small business houses run by ladies and families more
Let the benefits of GST be examined by any impartial committee to establish that the benefits are perculated to the consumers. more
