There is no standardization of majority of eatables in India. Sweat shops sell stale items. During festival season, khoya(mawa) is stored in godowns in very unhygienic conditions even in Delhi what to talk about other towns/cities. Such stored items are full of fungus but the same is used for making burfi and other delicious sweets. Due to corruption,no Health Official dares to visit any shop/store room to inspect the items on regular basis. Only strong anti corruption/adulteration/unhygienic conditions laws can help is curbing this malpractice. Monthly performance report should be taken from every official working in Health Deptt/FSSAI as majority of Govt. employees feel that their only duty is to get fixed monthly salary, DA installment, annual increment and time bound promotion. more

The Fruit vendors in Koyambedu,Chennai openly keep chemicals to ripen fruits and apply them in the presence of the purchaser. The Food Saftety Officers do not bother to take action. more
